Viña Lanciano Reserva
Viña Lanciano encapsulates LAN’s philosophy, combining tradition, expertise, and the magic of a unique terroir. Named after the ancient Roman Mantible Bridge depicted on its label, this wine reflects the spirit of a 72-hectare estate embraced by the Ebro River and nestled between Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa.
Grape Varieties:
96% Tempranillo, 2% Graciano, 2% Mazuelo from vines over 30 years old.
Vineyards:
From LAN’s Viña Lanciano estate, a remarkable site with 22 distinct plots. Sheltered by the Cantabrian mountains, this vineyard enjoys a unique microclimate, with sustainable viticulture practiced to honor the natural cycles of the vines.
Winemaking:
Hand-harvested in small crates with careful sorting at selection tables. Fermented in small, truncated-cone stainless steel tanks with extended maceration for enhanced color extraction. Malolactic fermentation takes place in 225L French oak barriques from the Tronçais forests.
Aging:
Aged for 14 months in new French oak (Tronçais) barrels and 7 months in Russian oak, followed by 18 months of bottle rounding in LAN’s cellar for added complexity.
Tasting Notes:
A bright red cherry hue with aromas of ripe red fruits, violet, thyme, cinnamon, and graphite. On the palate, it’s intense yet balanced, showcasing vibrant fruit character and a long, expressive finish.
A wine of remarkable elegance, Viña Lanciano Reserva pairs beautifully with roasted meats, stews, or charcuterie, making it a standout choice for special moments.
