Altos Las Hormigas Los Amantes Malbec - Mendoza
Vineyard
Crafted from plot number 15 in the Jardín Altamira property, this wine hails from a unique 1.2-hectare parcel where nature’s balance thrives. The soil features 80 cm of silt-rich topsoil, adding richness and structure (“meat”), while the granite rocks below with limestone represent the “bones,” giving this wine its distinctive minerality and character. The vines, planted in 2017, showcase the exceptional potential of this terroir.
Winemaking
This Malbec was produced with organic grapes and fermented using 15% whole clusters and indigenous yeasts. It underwent 15 months of aging in 3,500-liter untoasted French oak foudres to retain its purity and elegance. At 13.5% alcohol, the wine reflects an incredible balance of freshness and structure.
Tasting Notes
A showcase of Altamira’s unique terroir, this wine is aromatic and layered with vibrant floral notes. It offers depth and complexity with fine, chalky tannins and a dry, refined finish. Elegance defines every sip, as the wine balances freshness with structure, highlighting the purity of place over variety. With impressive grip and noble character, Los Amantes Malbec is a debut that sets a new benchmark for young vines.
